Dad and I had Friday off and we took advantage of the time and the good weather to spend an enjoyable day traveling up North. We visited Harper's Ferry West Virginia and strolled around the old town that has had George Washington visit, Lewis and Clark come and get their weapons for their trip and it was here that John Brown the abolitionist was arrested and helped to spark the beginning of the Civil War.

The town was devastated in the first few weeks of the War Between the States when the South destroyed the weapons depot. The town was strategically located at the convergence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers and was a very busy place.
Now it is a place for tourists to come and see a part of the past and float down down both rivers in rafts.

Later that night we went back and had dinner in an old restaurant across from the train station. We had crab cakes and they were yummy!
